The Faculty of Development Studies and Applied Sciences at Lumbini Buddhist University is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of today’s Course Seminar for the Master of Science in Agroforestry (MSc Agroforestry) program. The one-day event, centered on Curriculum Review and Academic Standards Assessment for 2026, took place at the Marcopolo Hotel in Kathmandu.
The seminar brought together faculty members, researchers, government officials, and other key stakeholders — participating both physically and online — to collectively review and strengthen the MSc Agroforestry curriculum with a special focus on Nepal’s unique forest ecosystems, medicinal and herbal plants, and the integration of Buddhist and Hindu philosophical and practical perspectives on agroforestry plant research and management.
The seminar concluded with a strong endorsement of the revised MSc Agroforestry syllabus. Participants appreciated the comprehensive coverage of agroforestry systems, sustainable land management, climate-smart agriculture, and community-based natural resource management within the curriculum. Recommendations were made for the further enhancement of practical field components and research collaboration to keep the programme at the forefront of agroforestry education in Nepal.
This positive outcome reflects the shared commitment of academia, researchers, and government sectors to develop future-ready agroforestry professionals who can address Nepal’s environmental, biodiversity, and livelihood challenges while honoring the country’s deep cultural and spiritual heritage.
