Lumbini, October 2, 2026 — Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Education and Sports, Hon. Sasmit Pokharel, visited Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) on October 2, 2026.

The Minister was warmly welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya and Registrar Mr. Indra Prasad Kafle at the university.
During the visit, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shakya briefed the Minister on the university’s institutional development, academic activities, achievements, and future vision. He highlighted Lumbini Buddhist University’s role in promoting Buddhist education, research, and international academic collaboration, as well as its plans for further academic and institutional advancement.

Registrar Mr. Indra Prasad Kafle presented an overview of the university’s academic and administrative progress, highlighting ongoing initiatives and efforts to strengthen the university’s academic environment and institutional capacity.
On the occasion, Lumbini Buddhist University contributed NPR 1,010,000 (ten lakh ten thousand rupees) to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund as part of its commitment to supporting disaster-affected communities and contributing to national relief efforts.

The visit also provided an opportunity for discussion on the university’s future priorities and areas requiring further support. Minister Pokharel provided guidance, encouragement, and support for the continued development of Lumbini Buddhist University. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the university’s academic and institutional foundations and enhancing its contribution to higher education.

The university expressed its gratitude to the Minister for his visit, guidance, and support. The interaction concluded with a shared commitment to advancing the university’s academic excellence, institutional development, and contribution to Buddhist education and research at national and international levels.
