Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU), Faculty of Buddhist Studies (FBS), successfully conducted the Mini Research Proposal Defense on Chaitra 15-16, 2082 (March 29-30, 2026) via Zoom, commencing daily at 7:30 AM. The program was organized under the coordination of the Research Committee of the Faculty with the aim of enhancing research quality, methodological rigor, and academic standards in Buddhist Studies.
The sessions were chaired by Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fanindra Kumar Neupane and Mr. Sanjay Shakya (Lecturer) served as evaluators and commentators.
On Chaitra 15, Ms. Sushma Acharya presented her proposal titled “Saṅgha-Pariṇāma within Dhamma-Vinaya: A Case Study of O-SAL Chöling Monastery, Godavari,” followed by constructive academic discussion. On Chaitra 16, Mr. Kiran Shrestha presented his proposal titled “Bhāvanā in Spiritual Tourism: A Case Study of Boudhanath,” which also received detailed expert review.
Both sessions followed a structured academic format including presentation, expert commentary, and interactive question-and-answer sessions. The evaluators provided comprehensive feedback focusing on strengthening theoretical and conceptual frameworks, improving clarity in Buddhist terminology, and enhancing research design coherence. They further emphasized alignment between research objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes, advising applicants to revise their proposals accordingly.
The Chair Dr. Shakya expressed satisfaction with the overall academic quality and reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to research excellence and academic integrity. The program concluded successfully with active participation and meaningful scholarly engagement, reflecting LBU’s dedication to advancing Buddhist-oriented research aligned with international academic standards.
Mr. Kamal Thapa (Asst. Lecturer), as Member of the Research Committee, coordinated and facilitated the proceedings, ensuring effective communication and the smooth, timely execution of both defense sessions.
