LBU MDD Second Intake Begins Research Journey

2 October 2026, Lumbini

The Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU), organized the Introduction and Presentation Program of MDD Scholars – 2nd Intake 2026 on 2 October 2026 through Zoom.

The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, Vice-Chancellor and Chairman, MDD Committee, LBU, with academic guidance from Prof. Basanta Bidari and Prof. Dr. Arvinda Kumar Singh, ICCR Chair, LBU. Dr. Sagar Neupane provided Chinese language translation support.

Two international scholars of the Master’s Degree by Dissertation (MDD) Program presented their proposed research:

Mr. Chuang Shun-Fa, Taiwan“The Convergence of Wisdom and Great Compassion: Bodhisattva Praxis and Ethics in the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra” Mr. Colin, Malaysia “A Preliminary Study of Prajñā (Insightful Contemplation) in the Platform Sūtra of the Sixth Patriarch”

The scholars presented the background, research problem, objectives, research questions, literature review, methodology, expected outcomes and significance of their proposed studies.

Academic Feedback and Way Forward

Following the presentations, the academic experts provided structured and constructive feedback on the proposed research, with particular attention to clarity and organization, alignment of objectives and research questions, methodology, academic relevance and overall research direction.

The discussion provided the scholars with clear academic guidance for refining their proposals and advancing their dissertation research.

The program highlighted the MDD Program’s commitment to research-based, mentorship-oriented and internationally engaged postgraduate education at Lumbini Buddhist University.

The program was coordinated by Mr. Kamal Thapa, Assistant Lecturer & Coordinator, MDD program, Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Lumbini Buddhist University.
