Lumbini, 20 May 2025 –
Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) had the distinct honor of hosting Mr. Hari Budha Magar, a globally recognized inspirational figure and former Gurkha soldier who became the first double above-knee amputee to summit Mount Everest.

The event featured an interactive session with university stakeholders, faculty members, and staff, where Mr. Magar shared his extraordinary life journey marked by resilience, determination, and a strong will to overcome physical and social barriers.
During the session, Mr. Magar emphasized the power of a positive mindset, the importance of inclusion, and how personal hardships can be transformed into opportunities to inspire others. Faculty and staff actively engaged with Mr. Magar, asking questions and reflecting on his message of hope and courage.

The Center for International Relations coordinated the event, which was warmly received by the academic community. Mr. Magar’s presence served as a powerful reminder that limitations are often only in the mind, and with courage, anything is possible.

LBU extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Hari Budha Magar for taking the time to visit and inspire the university family.
