Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) warmly welcomed Venerable Master Bao Jixiang, a respected visiting professor and esteemed Buddhist leader, visited the university with his team of followers. His visit was marked by substantial contributions to the University’s academic resources and student welfare.
During the visit, Venerable Master Bao Jixiang delivered a guest lecture to LBU students on advanced translation methods. His lecture provided deep insights into the nuances of translating Buddhist texts, highlighting the importance of preserving meaning while ensuring cultural sensitivity. In addition to his academic contribution, Venerable Master generously donated his extensive collection of translation and scholarly works to Lumbini Buddhist University. Moreover, Venerable Master made a donation of 20,000 RMB to the Bhot Buddhist Studies Student Welfare Fund. This fund is intended to support the healthcare needs of both faculty members and students within the Bhot Buddhist Studies Department, ensuring their well-being as they continue their academic journey.
Further demonstrating his commitment to the university, Venerable Master, in collaboration with Auspicious Vihara and Digital Dharma Singapore, contributed 100,000 RMB for the establishment of a “Department of Translation Studies” at Lumbini Buddhist University. This new department is expected to become a leading center for translation studies, advancing the University’s mission of promoting Buddhist teachings and scholarship worldwide.
In addition to his activities at LBU, Venerable Master Bao Jixiang had his gracious visit to the Devdaha Education Development Project and had a discussion on future planning and development.
