Lumbini, Nepal – In a significant step toward fostering international cooperation, Mrs. Chameera Munasinghe, Acting Sri Lankan Ambassador to Nepal, visited Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) today. Accompanied by a delegation that included monks from the Thai Monastery, the ambassador engaged in discussions with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya ,Registrar Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya, and other dignitaries of the university.

The discussions focused on enhancing academic collaborations, strengthening Nepal-Sri Lanka cultural ties, and promoting Buddhist education on a global scale. The exchange of ideas reflected a shared commitment to preserving and promoting Buddhist philosophy and heritage.

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, holds a special place in the hearts of Buddhists worldwide. The ambassador’s visit further reaffirmed the strong historical and spiritual connection between Nepal and Sri Lanka.The presence of revered monks from the Thai Monastery added spiritual significance to the event, highlighting the role of international Buddhist communities in supporting LBU’s academic and cultural initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya welcomed the delegation and emphasized the university’s dedication to Buddhist studies, research, and fostering global partnerships. Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya also expressed optimism for future collaborations between LBU and Sri Lankan academic institutions.The visit concluded with a tour of the university premises, where the delegation appreciated LBU’s contributions to Buddhist education, research, and cultural preservation.
