Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress Delegation Visits Lumbini Buddhist University

Lumbini, Nepal – In a remarkable event, Ms. Xie Hong, the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress, led a distinguished delegation on an official visit to Lumbini Buddhist University. The delegation comprised seven notable members, reflecting the importance of the visit.

The delegation included:

  • Cheng Yinsuo, Deputy Director of the Rural Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress
  • Duan Baoyan, Deputy Director Member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress
  • Chen Laping, Deputy Director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress
  •  Ms. Duan Suiling from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal
  • Zhang Shaohua, Principal Staff Member and Secretary General of the General Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress
  • Bia Yan, Principal Staff Member of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Republic of China

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya and Registrar Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya at the central office premises of Lumbini Buddhist University.

During the visit, Ms. Xie Hong extended a cordial invitation to the officials of Lumbini Buddhist University to visit Shanxi province, which boasts a rich history of approximately 5,000 years. She highlighted the presence of 91 colleges and universities in Shanxi, suggesting that Lumbini Buddhist University could explore and enhance institutional relations and foster mutual understanding and cooperation with these educational institutions.

Dr. Sagar Neupane of Lumbini Buddhist University served as the translator during the meeting, facilitating smooth communication between the delegates.

Ms. Xie Hong noted the similarities between Shanxi province and Nepal, emphasizing that Shanxi covers an area of about 157,100 square kilometers and has a population of approximately about 35 million.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya expressed profound gratitude for the visit and the gracious invitation. He stated, “We are honored by your visit and look forward to exploring the opportunities for collaboration with institutions in Shanxi province.” The visit concluded with the presentation of a culturally handcrafted souvenir, symbolizing a token of love and appreciation from the delegation.

Ms. Duan Suiling, representing the Chinese Embassy, added her remarks, reinforcing the commitment to strengthening educational and cultural ties between Nepal and China.

This visit marks a significant step towards fostering international educational cooperation and cultural exchange, paving the way for future collaborative endeavors between Lumbini Buddhist University and educational institutions in Shanxi province.
