Lumbini Research Center was established with the support of Lumbini Buddhist University. This center is also devoted to the analysis and exploration of Buddhist literature, Languages and educational, and cultural affairs. The objective of the center is to bring forward some unreadable bad Acharyas Pali, Sanskrit, Tibetan and English manuscripts by translating them into Nepali and other indigenous languages rather than keeping them in their places. Also the center performs different types of government projects on Buddhism and its studies.
Lumbini is of international importance as it is where the Buddha was born therefore it is very important to study and research about this holy ground. There are however many facets that are still in bear and need detailed unearthing. The lands of Nepal, where Mahayana Buddhism is still a living tradition, is filled with sects such as Shakyapa, Gelukpa, Kagyupa, Nimapa and Bon(ku). These communities still have different centers of gravity of moral, practical, and ascetic character creatively integrating with every type of societies and cultures, political systems and economies.
