In November 2025, during the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, the official handover ceremony of the Confucius Institute at Lumbini Buddhist University was solemnly conducted as part of a special session of the conference.
At the ceremony, Prof. Yang Wei, Chair of the Chinese International Chinese Language Education Foundation, jointly presented the Confucius Institute plaque to Prof. Dr. Duan Feng, President of Beijing Language and Culture University, and Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya, Vice-Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University. The Confucius Institute at Lumbini Buddhist University is jointly established and will be jointly operated by Beijing Language and Culture University and Lumbini Buddhist University, with overall support from the Chinese International Chinese Language Education Foundation.
In the program, Registrar Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya, Nepal-side Director of the Confucius Institute Dr. Kumar Khadka, China-side Director of the Confucius Institute Dr Gao Rui and Director of CIR, Mr. Rajendra Ghimire, participated and expressed their strong commitment to building the Confucius Institute into a key platform for Chinese language education and people-to-people exchanges between Nepal and China.
