The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya has taken charge. Vice-Chancellor Bajracharya took charge of the university in Lumbini on Friday.
Hon. Prime Minister and Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal appointed Bajracharya on August 13th to fill the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor for almost 6 months. Speaking at the welcome event, Vice Chancellor Bajracharya said that he will work on the plan to take the university to international heights.
“I don’t make many promises, there is a challenge to show by working,” he said. He also thanked the Prime Minister for handing over the leadership of the university. Saying that he has been supporting the development of Buddhist University in the past, he said that now that he has received leadership, there are both challenges and opportunities to show his work.
Speaking at the program, the registrar of the university, Dr. Tilakram Acharya said that everyone should work together to reach the ‘ranking’ of international universities. In the 70s, the construction of the physical structures of the university had been completed, and the decision to celebrate the 80s as an academic decade would have to be made, he said.
He said that in order to take the university to the top, the chariot should move forward with all four wheels. “If the front wheel of the chariot is punctured, the chariot cannot move by pushing from behind,” he said. Speaking at the program, the former vice chancellor of Buddhist University Prof. Dr. Nareshman Bajracharya said that office bearers should not be vacant for a long time in the university.
Prof. Dr. Gitu Giri, director of the research center, said that the academic development of the university should be done by emphasizing the work related to research.
