Lumbini Buddhist University successfully hosted a two-day ICT workshop on the 15th and 16th of September 2024, aimed at enhancing the digital capabilities of the university’s IT staff. The event focused on empowering the staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to support the university’s shift toward administrative digitalization and academic innovation.

The workshop was inaugurated with a session led by Mr. Rabin Panthi, Workshop Coordinator and IT Consultant at Lumbini Buddhist University. Mr. Panthi shared insights into using digital tools to streamline administrative processes, equipping participants with hands-on training to adopt the University Management Information System (UMIS). This system is designed to simplify operations such as managing student records, staff administration, and other vital university functions.

The second day of the workshop was facilitated by Associate Professor Madhu Sudan Kayastha from Pokhara University, an expert Trainer of Trainees. He introduced participants to MOODLE, a widely-used Learning Management System (LMS) that will help foster academic innovation. The training included practical sessions on creating, managing, and delivering digital content, allowing staff to better support online and blended learning initiatives within the university.

A formal certificate distribution ceremony was held at the conclusion of the workshop. The event was graced by the presence of the university’s Registrar, Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya, and the Director of Planning and Monitoring, Dr. Kul Prasad Khanal. Both officials emphasized the increasing importance of ICT in higher education, noting that the skills gained by the staff during this workshop would significantly contribute to the university’s growth and modernization efforts.

Dr. Acharya expressed his appreciation to the participants and thanked the trainers for their valuable contributions. He highlighted the importance of continuous learning and professional development in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Dr. Khanal echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude to both trainers and reaffirming the university’s commitment to integrating technology across all areas of its operations.

The workshop was part of Lumbini Buddhist University’s broader initiative to embrace digital transformation in both its administrative and academic functions. By training its staff in the use of advanced digital tools, the university aims to provide a more efficient and modern educational environment for its students and faculty. The event concluded on a positive note, with participants eager to implement the knowledge they had gained to enhance the university’s overall performance.
