Lhosar Celebration and Scholarship Distribution Program 2025

On March 3, 2025, Lumbini Buddhist University, in collaboration with the Lotus Association for World Enlightenment, successfully organized a grand Lhosar celebration event at the Central Library Hall. The program featured several key highlights, including a major scholarship distribution ceremony and the launch of the annual magazine “Gyanoddyan Vol. III.”

The event was gracefully hosted by Ms. Anju Khanal. The inaugural thank-you speech was delivered by Ven. Dr. Nyima Sherpa, who expressed gratitude to all attendees and emphasized the importance of the Lhosar festival in preserving cultural heritage.

A significant part of the program was the scholarship distribution ceremony, where 45 students received academic scholarships. The distribution breakdown was as follows:

  • 18 students from the MBBS program
  • 23 students from the BBBS program
  • 3 students from the BARD program
  • 1 student from the BTTM program

Following the scholarship distribution, Laxmi Gurung, an MBBS 2nd-semester student, delivered a short speech thanking the organizers and highlighting the cultural significance of the Lhosar festival. Another heartfelt thank-you speech was given by Nima Sange Lama, a 5th-semester student, who expressed appreciation on behalf of all the scholarship recipients.

Dr. Kul Prasad Khanal, Director of Planning and Monitoring, provided a comprehensive highlight of the event, emphasizing the role of education and cultural preservation in societal development. Additionally, as a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya presented a token of love to Mr. Arjun Podual, the representative of the Lotus Association for World Enlightenment.

The program concluded with a thank-you and closing remarks by Dr. Nir Bahadur Gurung, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the students, faculty, and staff for their invaluable contributions in making the event a resounding success.

The Lhosar celebration, combined with the scholarship distribution and magazine launch, marked an inspiring occasion, reinforcing the commitment of Lumbini Buddhist University and the Lotus Association for World Enlightenment to academic excellence and cultural enrichment.
