LUMBINI, Nov 26, 2025 — The Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, H.E. Shmulik Arie Bass, paid an official visit to Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) on November 26, marking a significant step toward expanding academic, cultural, and development cooperation between Israel and the university situated in the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Ambassador Bass was warmly welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya, who led a high-level interaction alongside Registrar Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya, Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, Director of the Planning and Monitoring Division Dr. Kul Prasad Khanal, and several distinguished faculty members and officials of LBU.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in constructive discussions focused on potential collaborations in areas such as peace studies, Buddhist diplomacy, heritage conservation, academic exchange, capacity-building, and agricultural innovation — a sector where Israel has established global leadership.
Vice Chancellor Bajracharya expressed that LBU is eager to explore joint programs, research opportunities, and cultural initiatives that align with Israel’s expertise and LBU’s vision for global academic outreach. Ambassador Bass conveyed his appreciation for LBU’s commitment to promoting Buddhist philosophy and international scholarship, noting that Israel values strong people-to-people ties with Nepal.

The visit concluded with a campus tour and a mutual commitment to develop concrete frameworks for future cooperation, symbolizing a new chapter in Israel–Nepal academic relations.
