Lumbini, Nepal – The sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha hosted the International Poets Conference, 2024, on Mangsir 6 (November 22). This literary event was a collaborative effort between the Brahmi Foundation, India, and the Faculty of Buddhist Studies at Lumbini Buddhist University. The conference aimed to strengthen Nepal-India relations through the universal language of literature.
In his keynote address, Dr. Manikratna Shakya, Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies at LBU, highlighted the importance of literature in spreading Buddhist teachings and values. He emphasized the role of poetry as a medium for cultural and spiritual exchange, fostering peace and mutual understanding.
The event featured prominent poets from both Nepal and India. Renowned Nepali poets Vijay Sagar, Rudra Gyawali, Acharya Dayanidhi Gautam, and Banamali Nirakar captivated the audience with their poetic recitations. Their works reflected themes of harmony, heritage, and human connection.
Representing India, poets Shikha Dipti, Mohan Muntajir, Kumar Raghav, and Poonam Mishra delivered verses that resonated with the conference’s themes, enriching the literary exchange between the two nations.
Anubhav Shukla, National President of Brahmi Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to present his works at the birthplace of Buddha. He remarked on the profound spiritual and cultural significance of Lumbini as an inspiring venue for such a gathering.
The International Poets Conference showcased the power of literature to transcend borders and build bridges between cultures, embodying the values of compassion and understanding deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophy.
