The Faculty of Buddhist Studies (FBS) at Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) successfully conducted the Master’s Degree by Dissertation (MDD) tuition program for Academic Year 2025/026, held online via Zoom from 24th August to 18th September 2025. The program covered two core courses: The Essential Teachings of Buddha (ETB-MDD 511) and Research Methodology (RM-MDD 512), designed to strengthen scholars’ understanding of Buddhist doctrines, literature, philosophical schools, art, and applied practices, while providing essential research and academic writing skills for dissertation work.

The program welcomed international MDD students and scholars Mr. Kohji Okhura (Japan), Ms. Siew Pei Fung (Malaysia), Mr. Beh Chun How (Malaysia), Mr. Zhao Wei (China), and Ms. Pai Ru Lun (Taiwan). They actively participated in interactive sessions, guided by distinguished faculty and tutors, including Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, Sr. Prof. Basanta Bidari, Prof. Dr. Bimalendra Kumar, Ven. Sri Vajira, Dr. Arvinda Kumar Singh, Dr. Nir Bahadur Gurung, Dr. Fanindra Kumar Neupane, Mr. Manjeel Subedi, Mr. Acharya Dayanidhi, Mr. Sanjay Shakya, Mr. Neshan Shrestha, Mr. Kabir Shakya, and Mr. Kamal Thapa.

The tuition program fostered critical thinking, collaborative learning, and cross-cultural engagement, preparing scholars for independent research, dissertation writing, and future academic contributions. It concluded successfully on 18th September 2025, achieving its objectives of providing a disciplined, engaging, and meaningful learning environment.

The Faculty of Buddhist Studies expresses its deepest gratitude to Prof. Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, Dean, as well as all faculty members, tutors, coordinators, and administrative staff for their guidance and support. The program was coordinated and managed by the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, under the oversight of Asst. Lecturer and Coordinator, Mr. Kamal Thapa, contributing to its smooth execution and a successful academic journey for all participants. According to Mr. Thapa, following this tuition course, students will be assigned supervisors in the first year and are required to write two academic papers to be published in peer-reviewed journals.
