Lumbini Buddhist University is pleased to announce the reappointment of Associate Professor Dr. Tilakram Acharya as the Registrar for his third consecutive term. The appointment process, which commenced with an open competition in March, culminated in the endorsement of Dr. Acharya’s candidacy.
During the competitive selection process, Dr. Acharya emerged as the top candidate and was recommended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarnalal Bajracharya to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who serves as the Chancellor, for the registrar’s appointment. Prime Minister Dahal formally presented the appointment letter to Dr. Acharya on Friday morning, following his decision earlier in the week.
Dr. Acharya’s tenure as Registrar has been characterized by significant contributions to the development and expansion of Lumbini Buddhist University. In his initial term, he oversaw the relocation of the central office to Lumbini, marking a pivotal shift from its previous base in Kathmandu. Under his leadership, the university achieved milestones such as the establishment of regulations, the inaugural convocation ceremony, and infrastructure enhancements including the construction of essential buildings.
In subsequent terms, Dr. Acharya facilitated substantial land acquisitions for the university, particularly in Devdah of Rupandehi, and spearheaded initiatives to enhance educational programs and administrative structures. Noteworthy achievements during this period include the completion of key projects such as the central library, central office, educational building in Butwal, and dean’s office in Devdaha
Reflecting on his reappointment, Dr. Acharya expressed his commitment to elevating Lumbini Buddhist University to international acclaim. He emphasized the importance of experienced personnel in advancing the university’s objectives and outlined plans for expanding educational offerings, enhancing physical infrastructure, and implementing strategic projects.
The selection process for the registrar position involved a comprehensive evaluation, overseen by a committee comprising esteemed members Dr. Ramesh Chandra Poudel, Member of National Planning Commission, Prof. Dr. Upendra Koirala, former Vice-Chancellor of Midwest University, and scholar Prof. Dr. Pushkar Bajracharya. Dr. Acharya’s stellar performance and vision for the university’s future were pivotal factors in his successful reappointment.
