Dr. Meiling Zhao Visits Lumbini Buddhist University, Expresses Interest in Supporting Women’s Education

Lumbini, Nepal – On June 11, 2024, Lumbini Buddhist University had the distinct honor of hosting Dr. Meiling Zhao, a prominent figure in the field of women’s empowerment and education. Dr. Zhao, who serves as the President of the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa, Legal Person of the Beijing Madam Cultural Center, and Initiator of the “Silk Road Happiness Fund” under the China Foundation of Peace and Development, visited LBU to explore collaborative opportunities.

During her visit, Dr. Zhao conveyed her profound interest in the educational advancement of women at Lumbini Buddhist University. She highlighted the critical role education plays in empowering young women and expressed her willingness to provide scholarships and additional support to female students. This initiative is set to significantly enhance educational opportunities for women at LBU, fostering an environment where they can thrive academically and personally.

Dr. Zhao’s commitment aligns with the university’s mission to promote inclusive education and support underrepresented groups. The visit concluded with a discussion on potential collaborative projects and a mutual agreement to further explore these opportunities. Dr. Zhao’s support is anticipated to bring a positive impact on the university community, particularly its female students, by empowering them through education and opening doors to new possibilities.
