Chinese Language Test to be Held at Lumbini Buddhist University, Inaugurated by Chief Minister

Lumbini: A Chinese language training and learning center has been established at Lumbini Buddhist University. This learning center is the fourth of its kind in Nepal and the first one located outside of Kathmandu. The center will conduct HSK-level exams, which are mandatory for students wishing to study in China.

The formal inauguration of the center took place on Friday, with Lumbini Province’s Chief Minister, Chet Narayan Acharya, unveiling the HSK center’s board. During the event, a cooperation agreement was also signed between Lumbini Buddhist University and China’s Hunan University to operate the Chinese language learning center.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Acharya emphasized that this center will help strengthen the friendship between Nepal and China. “I believe this center will contribute to the exchange of language and culture between the two nations and support tourism growth,” he said. “It will also assist in bringing Chinese tourists to Lumbini.”

Lumbini Buddhist University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Subarnalal Bajracharya, noted that the establishment of the Chinese language training center at the university is a significant milestone for the entire country. He expressed his happiness that the necessity to travel to Kathmandu for HSK exams has been eliminated. “Previously, there was a compulsion to travel to Kathmandu for Chinese language exams. Now, that requirement is removed,” he said. “This is a major achievement in our mission to attract international students to Lumbini.”

Registrar Dr. Tilak Ram Acharya mentioned that the Chinese language training center was established as part of a cooperative agreement signed with Hunan University a year ago. He expressed confidence that this achievement will serve as a cornerstone in promoting Lumbini Buddhist University to an international level.

On the same day, the university also welcomed 23 Chinese students who are studying Buddhism and Nepal Studies.

Zhuang Guanglin, the President of Hunan University, remarked that the training center would play a vital role in enhancing the strong relationship between Nepal and China. The event was attended by representatives from various organizations in Nepal and China.
