A collaboration between Lumbini Buddhist University and Siddhartha Hospitality, an opportunity for students to study, and earn while learning

An agreement has been signed between Lumbini Buddhist University and Siddhartha Institute of Hospitality under Siddhartha Business Group of Hospitality to provide students studying for a Bachelor in Hospitality & Tourism Management (BHTM) with theoretical and practical knowledge and an opportunity to study, learn, and earn.

Dean of the University Dr. Harisharan Chankhu said that he is happy to work with Siddharth, a popular brand of Nepal in the field of hospitality, because of the special features of international-level quality, chain hotels, five-star hotels, and other facilities under Siddharth Group.

“We wish that after completing the studies, the skilled manpower required for this sector will be produced. Every year, after Plus Two, many students are migrating abroad for higher education. “Through this collaboration, students can earn while studying, so we are happy that they can be stopped at home, even to some extent,” said Chintamani Neupane, president of Siddharth Group.

Students will learn basic information about hotel management along with Buddhist philosophy in the first 2 semesters of the four-year course. Krishna Neupane, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Siddhartha Business Group informed that the course has been designed so that they can study and earn from the second semester. In this course, students will also study tourism management.

“It is our aim that the students can recover most of the total expenses incurred for education after completing the education, accordingly the course has been designed”, said CEO Neupane, “Students will be able to earn by taking practical classes in various hotels & resorts of Siddharth Hospitality.” According to him, the curriculum has been prepared so that students work at least 20 hours a week while studying.

Shree Prasad Bhattarai, subject expert of the tourism and hospitality department of the university, said that the course has been designed in such a way that the knowledge, skills, and behavior of the students are effectively taught and evaluated. He says, “We are starting the course with 40 students in the first year, we have collaborated with the institute to produce the skilled manpower required for the hospitality sector and to keep them in the country.”

Neupane, CEO of Siddharth Hospitality mentioned that the plan has been made so that the students who have weak financial conditions will be facilitated to get loans from the bank to study and they can earn and pay in installments during the study period. “The credit hours are calculated based on the experimental class affiliation of the students and they can work more hours and earn on the basis of working hours”, he said.

In an event held in Kathmandu, the dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Harisharan Chankhu, and Chintamani Neupane, President of Siddharth Group, signed the agreement on behalf of the university.

Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya- Vice Chancellor, Dr. Tilakram Acharya- Registrar, Dr. Harisharan Chankhu- Dean, Shree Prasad Bhattarai-Subject committee chair of Tourism and Hospitality, Chintamani Neupane- Chairman of Siddharth Group, Krishna Neupane-CEO, and others were present in the program.
