Master of Arts in Buddhism and Nepal Studies familiarizes students with Buddhism and Nepal Studies. It will inculcate students in various academic activities that include general elective, fundamental and methodology taught courses, a compulsory thesis, research paper, experience of seminar or conference. On completion of this program, students will be able to use multi-disciplinary approaches and explain the ideas and practices that emerged in this domain.

Course duration and total credit:

The duration of the course is two years, comprising two semesters in each year and four semesters in total. The minimum credit hours for the course will be 60 including 21 credits for research & experiences.

Objective

The core objective of the MABNS courses of study has been designed with the following learning objectives:

  • to gain a higher and intuitive understanding of Buddhist philosophy,
  • to understand Nepal,
  • understand current research development of Nepal Studies, and
  • understand Buddhist meditation practice, mindfulness

The program will carry 60 credits in total and spread over four semesters .The Master of Arts in Buddhist and Nepal Studies (MABNS) at Lumbini Buddhist University offers a multidisciplinary approach, providing students with a profound understanding of Buddhist philosophy, meditation practices, and Nepal Studies. Emphasizing critical thinking, ethical practice, and interdisciplinary research, the program prepares students to address complex social issues and contribute to peace and development. Admission Criteria
  • The minimum requirement to apply for admission in the Program is completion of a Bachelor’s degree in any subjects from a recognized University.
  • Nepalese student graduated from abroad should submit equivalent certificate.

Method of Evaluation

  1. 1. Academic performance of students will be evaluated on the basis of individual course for all the courses registered for the program. The final grade will be determined by aggregating the course-wise grades.
  2. Performance of a student will be judged by:
    1. Class attendance 10%
    2. Internal semester assessment 50%, and;
    3. End semester paper 40%
    4. In any semester a student will register for the courses offered by the University in that semester as per the approved curriculum of the concerned program.
    5. The course-wise weights for the continuous internal semester assessment and external semester examination will be as given below.
