Bhavatu Sabba Mangalam
Welcome to the School of Development Studies & Applied Sciences. We are located at Devdaha, the Mawali (maternal home) of Siddhartha Gautam Buddha, approximately 50 kilometer east of Lumbini, Nepal.
At our School, we offer academic programs on agroforestry, development & environmental studies that have been designed by adopting the Buddhist concepts of Tapovana (meditation grove) and the notions of Ahimsa (non-violence) within the framework of Bhavatu Sabba Mangalam (May there be all the auspices) and the contemporary practices of sustainable development. Along with the theoretical and conceptual learning, the learners will participate in the monastic experience, internship and outreach services that, we hope, will offer a life-long memory and a turning point in the professional career.
With these programs, we promote the learner-centered pedagogical approaches of indoor & open-air classes, open & distance learning, experiential & independent learning, and mindful-communications etc. Accordingly, the learners will be connected with the communities through action research, entrepreneurships, cooperatives, extension, and so on.
We plan to expand our network through exchange programs among the researchers, faculties, scholars, thinkers and students. We welcome people from all walks of life to join with us and share their valuable knowledge and experience in the areas of agro-forestry, environmental management and sustainable development for the benefits of society.
